The electromechanical temperature controller manufactured by Leitenberger (type number: 04.74) represents a combination of robust design and extremely precise temperature control. This instrument is an ideal choice for industrial applications requiring reliable and accurate temperature monitoring, especially in the fields of refrigeration technology and industrial measurement technology.

The device is made of high-quality stainless steel and features a transparent glass front panel, ensuring durability and easy readability. This remote sensing thermostat is built on the Bourdon tube measuring system and works exclusively bimetallic without compensation which can be advantageous in certain applications due to the simpler structure and specific measuring ranges.

Precise Measurement and Control

The device is used for measuring temperature and for switching relative to a set value. Thanks to the user-friendly design, adjustments can be made easily, while the display is extremely informative.

  • Measuring System: Dual Bourdon tube measuring system, without bimetallic compensation.

  • Display: The current temperature value is displayed with a black indicator, and the set switching point (setpoint) is displayed with a red indicator. This contrasting presentation significantly facilitates the quick assessment of the current status.

  • Scale length: An approximate 240° scale length ensures fine resolution. The scale division is variable (1°, 2°, 5°, 10°), depending on the selected measuring range.

  • Accuracy Class: The accuracy of the measurement is classified in accuracy class 2 according to the EN 16203 standard, which guarantees reliable industrial precision.

Switching Functions

The temperature controller has an integrated electrical switch, which enables the control of external systems (e.g., heating or cooling units) when the set temperature is reached.

  • Switch type: Single-pole changeover contact.

  • Setting range: The switching point can be adjusted over the entire measuring range. The adjustment is made using a top-mounted rotary knob made of PVC.

  • Switching Capacity: 5A / 3A at 125 / 250 VAC, at 40–60 Hz frequency.

  • Switching Hysteresis: After reaching the switching point, the accuracy of the switch-back is as follows:

  • Temperature decrease: +2%

  • Temperature increase: -2%

Mechanical Design and Protection

The device design ensures maximum durability and flexibility during installation.

  • Locking mechanism: Done from the rear using a mounting clamp.

  • Housing Protection Rating: The housing of the instrument IP 53 corresponds to the protection class according to standard DIN 60529. This ensures protection against dust ingress and protection against splashing water.

  • Terminal Protection Rating: The default protection rating of the connections (terminals) IP 00.

  • Optional Protection: The protection rating of the connectors can be increased by using an optional protective cap IP 55 which provides increased protection against water jets and dust.
